The Cesare Brandi Resource Centre
The collection
EPA's
library is a reference centre in the fields of conservation and
promotion of African cultural heritage. It contains two sorts
of materials:
printed materials, and
audiovisual materials
Printed materials
The library contains more than 2000 entries. They cover the following subjects:
conservation (sites and museums), architecture, museology, heritage law, exhibitions,
exhibition mounting techniques, natural heritage, public education, heritage
economy, African arts, history of art, prevention and security, computer science,
tourism, guides. Reports, dissertations and periodicals complete this ever
growing collection.
Audiovisual
materials
They contain video tapes, CDs and CD-ROMs on preventive conservation, museums,
archives and anthropology. The entire CCI video tape collection on conservation
is available. These audiovisual materials are to be consulted at the library,
which provides a TV monitor, a video player and two Pentium PCs.
Services
Documentary research
Users can pursue their research through available manual card-indexes.
Staff, however, is on hand to give help and advice necessary for good research.
Bibliographies can also be obtained by correspondence provided that the enquiry
is clear and precise.
Loans
Loans are reserved to members of the library and provided the membership card
is shown at each transaction. Periodicals are not included but photocopies
may be made on request depending on the librarian's decision.
