Museums and children’s education
LOCATION: Maison PREMA, Porto-Novo
DATES: 27 September - 01 October 1999
Participants: Political authorities and partners of the 13
museums participating in the 10th Prema University Course,
special guests.
Aim: To help African museums in their efforts
to develop relevant programmes for African children.
Content:
The programme consisted in:
- An event: the official opening of the Ecole du Patrimoine
Africain - EPA.
- An in depth reflection on the place occupied
by children in African museums, through:
- The results of the inquest on
animation in African museums, which was held in 27
museums of 17 countries.
- A meeting on " Education
and Culture ", centred on the psychology
of African children.
- Suggestions of actions to be
led by EPA for the period going from 2000 to 2010.
- The presentation of professional
projects designed by the
16 participants of the 10th PREMA
University Course.
- Exchanges and demonstrations
about:
"New technologies of information
and communication: false hopes,
real problems and new tools for
African museums."
