School of African Heritage

EPA buildingsEPA, which has the status of an international organisation, is located in Porto-Novo, Benin. It is a postgraduate university institution, specialised in the preservation and promotion of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It trains heritage professionals from 26 sub-Saharan African countries.

The School's mission at first was aimed in priority at conservation, management and mediation of collections of African museums.  EPA then diversified its activities by targeting libraries and archives, then immovable and intangible cultural heritage.

Since its creation in 1998, EPA has trained more than 1200 African heritage professionals, carried out more than 220 activities, mounted 4 exhibitions, organised an international conference, published more than 50 reports, one newsletter, the proceedings of one conference, two tourism guides and 10 Web sites, and carried out 4 surveys.

EPA is a self-financed institution which receives support from a variety of funders.

[20 au 24/05] Dans le cadre de la troisième session de formation du personnel du Musée de la Musique de Parakou, intitulée "Conception, mise en scène et animation d’exposition", le second volet axé sur l'animation d'exposition est animé par Mme Toffoun et M. Ogou, tous deux de l'EPA.

 

[21/05] Dans le cadre des préparatifs de l'atelier sur "le volet microfinance dans les banques culturelles", M. Baba Keita tient ce jour, une séance de travail  avec M. Luc Fabre, Conseiller à la Coopération Culturelle de l'Ambassade de France au Bénin et Madame Orange de Planet Finance.
