EPA buildingsEPA, which has the status of an international organisation, is located in Porto-Novo, Benin. It is a postgraduate university institution, specialised in the preservation and promotion of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It trains heritage professionals from 26 sub-Saharan African countries.

The School's mission at first was aimed in priority at conservation, management and mediation of collections of African museums.  EPA then diversified its activities by targeting libraries and archives, then immovable and intangible cultural heritage.

Since its creation in 1998, EPA has trained more than 700 African heritage professionals, carried out more than 215 activities, mounted 4 exhibitions, organised an international conference, published more than 50 reports, one newsletter, the proceedings of one conference, two tourism guides and 10 Web sites, and carried out 4 surveys.

EPA is a self-financed institution which receives support from a variety of funders.

[07 to 11/05] In the context of the 3rd International Festival of Storytelling and the Word (FICOP) in Benin, DO Massé Association in partnership with EPA, is organizing a day of training, during which EPA will present a paper entitled "Economics of the story or tale, a company!" in the multipurpose room of the EPA May 7, 2012 from 09h to 16h. In the same context, a storytelling walkabout will be held at JPN May 11 from 15h to 16h30.
 
[18 Apr.] In the context of Heritage and local development project, financed with the European Union, two seminars for municipal technicians will be held in Benin in Ouidah and Porto Novo. Each course will host participants from 25 countries who were the beneficiaries (Benin, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Senegal, Mali). The deadline for submitting applications is May 20, 2012.
